The Norman Studios again will be a stop on the upcoming Arlington Mod & More Home Tour hosted by Old Arlington, Inc. and the American Institute of Architects-Jacksonville Chapter on Saturday, November 4. You’ll start with a symposium at Resurrection Catholic Church, 3383 University Blvd., featuring University of Florida Professor Emeritus and noted author, Ron Haase. Copies of Mr. Haase’s latest book, The Last House, will be available for purchase.
Then, you’ll take a self-guided tour (nicknamed the Mini, Midi, Maxi Mod and More Tour this year) of some of the grooviest examples of residential architecture from the 1950s, ’60s and early ’70s. Among the stops are the classic 1958 mid-mod home, recently featured in Jacksonville Magazine, restored to fit the hip mod lifestyle of today’s millennial generation; an iconic “butterfly-style” home designed by Robert Broward filled with furniture and accessories of the 50s, 60s and 70s; and, of course, the Norman property, where you’ll get a glimpse of Northeast Florida’s silent film era, plus a thoroughly modern tiny home.
Booklets with tour sites and other info will be available for pickup at the church.
