Interested in having the Norman Studios be a part of your next event? There are several ways we can offer your participants an entertaining and informative experience:
- Screening of Hollywood East: Florida’s Silent Film Legacy: This 30-minute documentary chronicles Jacksonville’s heyday as the Winter Film Capital of the World and explores whether the River City could have been Tinseltown today. It’s produced by local filmmakers Nadia Ramoutar and Stephanie Borklund with help from students at the Art Institute of Jacksonville. Screenings of multiple silent films, including several shot in Northeast Florida, also are available. Visit our Hold a Film Screening Page to learn more.
- Speakers: The Norman Studios has several well known deeply knowledgeable film historians on its Board of Directors and Board of Advisors including longtime Jacksonville historian Rita Reagan; Florida film historian Lisa Bradberry; and Philip Harwood, film studies lecturer at New York’s Queen’s College.
- Power Point Presentation: A Power Point presentation detailing Jacksonville’s stint as a major film production hub during the 1910s and 1920s; its continued film production throughout the decades since; and the preservation of and plans for the Norman Studios is available, provided your venue has proper equipment and setup.
To schedule a presentation, contact Norman Studios Chair and Education & Community Outreach Director Rita Reagan at outreach@normanstudios.org or 904.716.0706.
