The Norman Studios is thrilled to partner with the Niles Essanay Silent Film Museum and Retroformat Silent Films to present a free online screening of Richard Norman’s famed aviation film “The Flying Ace”.
This 1926 crime drama tells the story of a WWI fighter pilot and his rival aviator. It stars Laurence Criner, who was a veteran thespian from Harlem’s Lafayette Players, and beautiful Kaythryn Boyd, whose character is based on a real-life, trailblazing woman aviator! The film features sophisticated “aerial” sequences—entirely shot on the ground.
But there’s more!
Tune in for a follow up program – Retroformat Silent Films’ Q&A with Devan Stuart Lesley and Gerald T. Anderson, great nephew of famed rodeo star Bill Pickett, who appeared in two Norman films, “The Bull Dogger” and “The Crimson Skull”!
Originally recorded in February 2021, both programs will be available online through April 30th only.
